I’ve always felt more comfortable with numbers and equations than with anything else. That’s why I’ve spent my life studying them. What started as an academic endeavor—I’m a professor of analytics and applied math—has informed my photography. To me, creativity is formulaic. An engaging image is a careful combination of luminosity, contrast, and color.
