We welcome you to visit our gallery located on The Square in historic downtown Ste. Genevieve, MO. Our gallery represents a diverse group of local and regional artists. Here you can immerse yourself in our expansive collection, ranging from landscapes, abstracts, and portraits to woodwork, pottery, and jewelry.

We recognize that art is perhaps our best way to communicate complex ideas and feelings, encouraging us to better examine our preconceptions about the world around us. Our gallery’s mission is to connect all people to creativity not only with our array of art, but also by offering art classes, lectures, and private lessons for aspiring artists of all ages.

Founded in 1735, Ste. Genevieve is not only Missouri’s oldest settlement but also the oldest European settlement west of the Mississippi River and so, nicknamed “The Mother City of the West.” It was originally settled by French Canadian colonists but uniquely holds claim to combining French, Spanish and American heritage, a distinction not easy to find elsewhere. The presence of people from various backgrounds contributed to the development of a unique cultural identity and way of life in this region.

Ste. Genevieve is home to one of the largest authentic collections of restored 18th and 19th century structures in North America. Recognizing this, the Ste. Genevieve Historical National Park was officially added to The National Park System in 2020. A visit to Ste Genevieve will allow you to experience this rich colonial history first hand since many of these structures are open to the public.

 

In addition to its historical roots, the beautiful rolling hill countryside surrounding Ste. Genevieve is home to several wineries and breweries. Experiencing the wine country along with the town’s home style restaurants and unique shops is worth a day or a weekend trip to the area. Take a step back in time and plan to stay in one of the many historical Inns or Airbnb’s, all while surrounded by the gracious charm and friendliness of small town America.
