My uncle Bob started my dad’s interest in Woodturning. So naturally, when my dad bought a lathe, I started messing around with it. Bob and my dad were into mostly functional things. They made bowls and vases that actually held things and could be used. I also made bowls and vases, but mine had holes in them or were odd shaped. At craft fairs people always would ask me “What are they for? What are you supposed to use them for?” All I could say was that I liked the way they looked. I make my stuff for no other reason.
